Letter to Clients on April 1, 2021
Hello folks,
As I approach 20 years working as a Massage Therapist, I thank you for your continued support all these years. I am very grateful for all of you, and the respect you have shown during this pandemic. It has been a trying year for everyone. I appreciate your concern for following protocols and the times some of you had to reschedule or cancel due to potential Covid exposure. With the vaccine rollout, I am hopeful for a better future; however, we still need to remain vigilant. I will continue to do my part with cleaning and mask wearing, and not working if I have any symptoms or known exposure. I expect that you all will continue to do the same for me.
More importantly, I am writing to address my schedule and the limits of my availability.
For the past 4 years, I have been living with a chronic illness called Dysautonomia, and even more specifically, pre-load failure and autoimmune small fiber polyneuropathy. Many of you may remember I was out of work in 2017 for most of the year, as I was healing, recovering, and gaining back my strength. It’s a complicated illness to understand as it affects all aspects of my autonomic nervous system. With the advice of my doctor, I have honed a daily regimen of self care (diet, exercise, hydration, salt, medication, compression socks, and rest, to name a few!). This has helped to keep my symptoms at bay so that I could see a couple clients a day, generally being able to offer you all the appointments you wanted. It is a delicate balance, as I require all these therapeutics just to stand upright every day. With my work being very physical, if something is out of balance with my self care, my body suffers.
I take great pride in the job I do for each of you, and am honored to be able to help you find more ease in your bodies. I have learned the difficult lesson this past year that I have been overdoing it a bit at work with the amount of clients I see. I have recently been cutting back on my scheduling to see only one client per day. As you can imagine, this is causing a problem with my availability. I am currently booking in June and some of you have recently had to show great patience in getting a time slot with me. It is difficult for me too, as there is nothing more I would like than to help you all. As with all of us struggling through aspects of this pandemic, I too am hoping for a return to my prior way of life, and specifically my regular water therapy exercises, which help my body and vitality a great deal. Perhaps things will be looking up this year, as things reopen. I am hopeful to get back to my pool exercises and gain back some more strength and endurance. Until then I ask that you try to be flexible when scheduling with me as I am doing the best I can when I offer you time slots. I am trying to be fair to everyone so that you all can have a chance to see me.
I do continue to offer 1 hour ($90) or 1.5 hour ($135) massage appointments. I am not seeing any new clients this year. If you are receiving this email, this means you have seen me during this past year and you are considered a current client. If you are unwell or have to cancel for another reason, please let me know as soon as you can, so that I could potentially offer someone your time slot. If you fail to show up for your appointment, this is considered a “no show” and you will be charged the full amount of your scheduled appointment. As usual, I will keep my website updated with any current information regarding my practice.
Wishing you all good health and happiness,
Allison
